BASTERO : New stage in the cultural life of Andoain BASTERO : New stage in the cultural life of Andoain The development of cultural policies, in as much as short to medium term, in the municipality of Andoain. The cultural performance will develop around three axis:1) Educational policy for cultural and personal development; 2) Diffusion and popularization of cultural acts and events, 3) Investigation, conservation and diffusion policies of heritage. Focused on the diffusion policies with the purpose of achieving greater citizen participation and attendance in the events that shape the cultural life of the municipality, the Town council of Andoain, aware of the necessity of having infrastrucures and attractive and accessible spaces to facilitate diffusion and popularization of cultural acts and events, approved the construction project of a new cultural center: Bastero. Bastero, that is in phase of advanced construction, is a cultural center planned to influence mainly in the diffusion policy of music, scenic arts, plastic arts and cinema, besides also offering a space for the musical formation of all citizens through the Municipal School of Music. This cultural center, will harbor these diverse spaces that will allow the interrelationn among themselves: . Main hall : with a capacity for 500 spectators and a stage of 11 m. wide by 11 m. deep and 17,5 m. high until the comb. Its shape allows its technical preparation for all theatrical shows such as musicals, besides several other activities like assemblies, conferences, meetings... . Small Hall : that can accommodate a maximum of 200 people, it is designed to hold concerts and small format representations, conferences, courses, meetings, dances, etc... . Exhibition Room : It is planned to be divided in two areas of different space shapes. Firstly is the space that receives natural light by means of a skylight that will allow the exhibitionn of three dimensional works. On the other side of the wall that defines theprevious space, another space is being developed that will be able to be divided by means of panels, being more appropriate for the exhibition of graphic material. . Music School : organized on two floors, where the spaces designated to classrooms as well as other complementary ones such as the record library, teachers'room and administrative areas are located.
